Who are we?

Conservation Divers Australia was founded by Jennifer Bloodworth, an experienced science teacher and SCUBA instructor from the UK, and living and working in Australia since 2016.

“Throughout my teaching in schools, I worked closely with young people struggling with low self-efficacy and a sense of inadequacy, struggling with he school system. I met countless students whose lack of confidence or direction led to disengagement - affecting their classroom behavior, social interactions, and their general motivation for life.

I wanted to create a pathway for these learners - one that ignites curiosity, builds valuable skills, and equips them with tools for their future. As a firm believer in the power of movement and sport as a catalyst for physical and psychological transformation, I find scuba diving to be the perfect medium.

I was lucky enough to spend two years with Marine Conservation Philippines, surveying coral reefs off the Island of Negros, working to improve food security for local communities. This time showed me first hand the desperate need we have to protect the indispensible resource of our oceans.

When you have opportunity to immerse yourself in another world, to discover new depths within yourself, and to analyse the harmonious intricacies of marine life, the possibilities feel endless. That’s the belief in action we need to instill in our young people.

That’s what CDA is all about…”
